We always get a great response when we share snippets of information about our favourite places. It’s easy to share ‘hidden gems’ when it comes to cute villages throughout Surrey, Sussex and Kent – however, we all agreed it can be easy to over look the more ‘urban’, busy towns, which we think we know well and have possibly not considered visiting, or choosing as somewhere to live! With this in mind we asked our residence ‘foodie’ Ryan Milson to share his love of ‘all things’ Sutton!
“Considering that I am looking to buy a property in Sutton next year…and that I have lived in Sutton most of my life, it wasn’t a surprise that I was asked to share why I’ve grown rather fond of the area! Sutton is one of London’s greenest boroughs and I spent most of my childhood exploring Sutton’s many local woods and playing fields. In fact, Sutton has 607 hectares of green space and 16 parks; That’s a lot of exploring!
Royston Park and Rosehill Park are where I spent most of time playing football for The Royals. Looking back, I always knew that I would never be good enough to pursue football as a career option, but I have always loved playing football since being a child and still play every Tuesday night (I like to think of myself as a rare left footed winger who’d be useful in any low standard football team!)
I also attended local schools; Muschamp Primary School, Muschamp Road in Carshalton and for Secondary, Greenshaw High School, Grennell Road. This is where I met a lot of my close friends. We often joke about how we’d love to go back for a day. Once I had finished my final year at Greenshaw I decided to stay on and study for my A-levels and the school’s successful Sixth Form. After studying for another year and achieving my As-level, I decided to continue my education at Carshalton Girls (mixed) Sixth Form. This was a new and exciting challenge where I met many more close friends and more importantly, my girlfriend Nicole. Myself and Nicole were in the same class studying Film. Rumour has it that she only picked the class to introduce herself to me; A decision I’m sure she regrets to this day!
After leaving school I got a job on the High Street working at a well-known retail store. I would often pop out for a coffee (Caramel Macchiato to be specific!) at Starbucks and pop into the many shops and cafes on the high street.
I no longer work in the heart of Sutton and love working in our Move Revolution Purley Office at the incredible Airport House, Purley Way, but still enjoy many of Sutton’s places of interest including local restaurants and bars. I’m often referred to, by everyone in the team as a ‘foodie’. This is due to my significant love of food and I could talk for hours about my much-loved meals and restaurants.
My favourite lunchtime spot is The Mad Coffee Bar, known locally as ‘The Portuguese Café’. It’s the perfect spot for fresh, homemade sandwiches and baguettes which you can enjoy whilst sat on their outside terrace.
If dinner is more your thing, head to The Spaghetti Tree, a popular Italian Restaurant situated just a short walk from Sutton Station. The King prawn and chorizo tagliatelle is my personal recommendation!
If you’d rather enjoy Sutton’s evening and nightlife, pay a visit to All Bar One located on the High Street, its contemporary décor and fancy cocktails appeals to the local professionals who wish to unwind at the weekend. Alternatively, I head to The Old Bank, a pub next to Sutton Station; It’s perfect for meetings friends before we head into London for a night out or out out.
For the commuter, Sutton offers a direct service into London from its Sutton, West Sutton and Sutton Common train stations. At Move Revolution we deal with a lot of local buyers who love the balance between Sutton’s semi-rural lifestyle but commutability into London for work.
Years later, I no longer live in Sutton but I am planning to buy my first home later this year with Nicole; we’d love to be able to return to where we first met and grew up together. If you spot me in a local bar or restaurant, come over and say hi! I will tell you more about my love for Sutton’s local food spots!”
I smiled when I read Ryan’s blog – it’s certainly all things football (in the parks) and food .. but not shopping – and Sutton has brilliant shopping either at Time Square Shopping Centre (TK MAXX followed by a Starbucks Frappacino – who can resist!) or St Nicholas Shopping Centre… what a list to tempt you to pop to Sutton!
Have we temped you to visit Sutton for shopping, a meal or perhaps to visit one of the 16 parks?! Our Move Revolution Purley, Croydon office manage property sales and lettings for Sutton and the surrounding area. Just give Ryan or Paul Mulligan a call on 020 8819 3272 to find out about gorgeous houses we have for sale in the area. We will let you into a little secret that we will be launching a collection of new flats just a short stroll from Rosehill Park, and a short stroll to the the train station and high street. If you would particularly love to buy a ‘new build’ this is the perfect opportunity to ‘snap up’ a wonderful new flat (these properties will all have HELP TO BUY) as an added bonus!

Introducing our new guest blogger, Charlotte Waters from West One Bathrooms

Charlotte will be sharing with us design ideas, trends and key innovations… we are thrilled to share her first blog.
GEOMETRICS: A TIMELESS TREND
When we think of geometrics, it is often associated with hard faceted edges and bold bright patterns. Geometrics don’t solely present themselves through bold prints, it is a trend that can be seen throughout history; The Ancient Greeks used bold geometric patterns as part of their interior and architectural design. Geometrics create shade and light, they play with eye and refract light at different angles. Throughout the 1900’s angular structures and patterns were presented in different forms as the design styles adapted and changed. Most commonly in interiors, geometric patterns are used all over the floor, or on a feature wall to focus the eye and draw attention to a specific part of the room. For a subtle affect, use one solid colour and let the pattern do the talking.
The beauty of geometric tiles is that it is suitable for all clients and bathrooms. “You can choose to go bold and combine the geometric print with striking contrasting colours to achieve a real wow factor”, advises Kaitlin Reading at West One Bathrooms Ann Sacks
Kelly Hoppen’s Bijoux collection for apaiser, available in crisp white or stealth like greys, is crafted from apaiser marble which is a luxurious high performance marble that is silky smooth, non-porous and warm to touch with unique heat retaining properties. Exclusively available in the UK at West One Bathrooms, the collection draws inspiration from the faceted characteristics typical of the Geometric design. The exteriors of the collection play with light and shadow, creating a dynamic surface resulting in a visual masterpiece.
You don’t need much of this trend to make a big statement. Opting to wallpaper a small wall in a bathroom will add dimension to any design without it being overwhelming. It is quick and easy to install and also suitable for use within the shower for a truly unique look.

Are you someone looking for ‘luxury’ in your home? Do you love interior design? Then this is the blog for you! We have the pleasure of introducing Lisa-Marie Elkadraoui from the award winning, luxury design studio Moska. Lisa-Marie is our guest blogger for this, our Luxury Styling blog. We met Lisa-Marie through MGM Homes, the developer of the stunning Westview apartments in Whyteleafe, we fully understand why Lisa-Marie has been chosen to style these incredible apartments – both Westview apartments have been individually designed with a luxuriously appointed, open plan kitchen, living and dining room.
Lisa-Marie has a keen eye having developed a meticulous attention to detail during her training within the industry which is evident when you walk around the stunning Westview apartments. Find out more about her styling, key influences and favourite features at Westview…
How would you describe your styling of Westview?
When we took the project on I automatically had a strong feel of how I wanted to design the space. Our client was really accepting of our views and recommendations and we wanted to give him a property which fused classic styling elements with a contemporary twist. It was important for him that the new build properties where an extension of the converted Georgian house and the feel of the properties had the same lovely flow about them. Due to the prime location of where the apartments sat we wanted to give our buyers the feel that they were getting a stylised luxury high end apartment that you may find in Clapham or Chelsea but doing it within a really realistic and reasonable budget which has been achievable. I ultimately would describe the overall feel as a perfect marriage of classic and contemporary style. We have gone with a very classic colour palette through our specification and mixed it up with certain contemporary furniture pieces such as the black iron bookcase as well as the wood and glass media unit.
What were your key influences for Westview?
For this particular project I was influenced by several factors, we always take into consideration the area and what we want to achieve at the end of the project based on our clients brief. I personally really love the beautiful Victorian and Georgian houses across London, the way they look, stand and feel are so inspiring and something so simply as a piece of artwork within or colour palette from a street scene can normally influence a project like this. I also love all seasons, but autumn is one of our favourites, especially the properties at Westview Avenue that where coming to market at the start of autumn became a massive influencing factor on how we finished through our styling with florals and accessories.
Connecting the two spaces inside and out and how the materials and colour tones blended perfectly too was another contributing key factor as well. Using autumnal burnt Eucalyptus and dark purple hydrangeas automatically gave the property a warmth. We also wanted to take comfort from a really homely, warm yet fresh colour palette and we achieved this through every aspect from the kitchen, flooring, tiling, carpet right down to the colour tones throughout the walls and doors too. This then allowed us to source and hunt for all of the furniture and accessories to ensure each and every piece worked well alongside each other and sat well within the property.
Which is your favourite room?
My favourite space has to be the open plan living area. When we designed how this space needed to work for our client we wanted to set three very clear areas that purchasers can enjoy yet flow freely around, a distinctive kitchen which met the lifestyle of all modern day needs, a dining area for them to enjoy with their friends and family which they can easily entertain in and finishing off with a stunning lounge that has its own area, which is comfortable yet stylish in appearance too. The grand and beautiful bi folding doors also allows the space to grow by inviting the large patio area to be another added extension of the room which gives the buyer the perfect entertaining space all round!
What key pieces really bring your style alive?
I think it would have to be the bookcase due to all our interesting finds and building up a profile of what our buyer may like to do as well as the dining table. Any dining table comes to life when its styled properly and it’s been something we have enjoyed doing for all our of clients for years now. You can show many elements through your styling, We wanted to use a really lovely nude and grey palette which is our all-time favourite mix, sourcing various items that stack, layer and complement each other well can be challenging and timely but it’s something we embrace and love to do!
Please read Lisa’s ‘key pieces’ shopping guide – just click here!
We would love to learn a bit more about you and your design background…
My background initially came from the fashion design world. Prior to getting into Interior Design I graduated as a menswear designer and worked in the fashion industry for a number of years for several big retailers in their design and merchandising departments. I’ve always been exposed to seasonal yet individual trends, colour palettes, fine eye for detailing, how to compose and fuse fabrics together as well as styling but I knew I had a real passion for Interior Design and home decor, when my husband and I bought our first home together, it was a complete refurbishment, a gut out and re do, something I really got my teeth into and a learning curve at the same time! This is when I wanted to further my interest into Interior Design and go for a career change, I eventually got to develop my skillset by going back to study in that area as well as work my way up to Lead Interior Designer with a multi award winning luxury property developer in Surrey for many years, before deciding that I wanted to continue my journey and set up my own design studio. It has become a real passion for me , seeing something you design on a piece of paper gradually come to life, whether it’s through a build, a refurbishment or a beautiful piece of furniture.

Congratulations on considering an investment at The Mill Apartments, Highwood, Horsham.
Every care and attention has been taken with the design of The Mill, Highwood, making this an effortless investment. At Move Revolution we pride ourselves on matching tenants to their perfect property, with a waiting list already building for The Mill Apartments, we are confident in securing not only the finest tenants, but a generous rent and yield (see below for more information)
Why is it prudent to invest in property?
With low interest rates, returns on savings are low. High quality properties offer a unique combination of capital growth and ongoing cash flow. Whatever the financial climate, property investment has a proven track record of delivering consistent long-term returns. Now is a perfect opportunity to either secure a pension fund, children’s future investment or simply add to your current portfolio.
With Londoners starting to move further out house prices in Horsham increased by 35% in 2005 to 2015. Rightmove reports overall sold prices in Horsham over the last year were similar to the previous year and 11% up on the 2015. Properties purchased at £300,000 in 2005 are now worth an average of £450,000. That’s £150,000 increase in just over 10 years. In 2016 The Telegraph also reported Horsham as a hot spot of significant house price growth.
Why invest at The Mill Apartments?
With many first- time buyers finding it difficult to get onto the housing ladder, demand for quality rental property has never been higher. When you live at The Mill you are only a five minute drive from the centre of Horsham, and 10 minutes in the car from Horsham Railway Station, which offers regular services to East Croydon, London Bridge and Victoria as well as down to Portsmouth & Southampton.
Given the luxurious specification of the apartments we can achieve rents in the region of £1100 pcm for a 1 bed apartment and £1400 pcm for the 2 bed apartments. Both offering a minimum of a 5% yield which is a fantastic return given the national average is 4%.
A Stunning Investment
Aside from the financial return, the apartments are truly stunning, built by the renowned developer Berkeley Homes, just take a look inside…
If you are considering a particular plot please get in contact so that we can give you some specific figures and discuss the best investment strategy for you.

Great fun this Autumn with Squiggle, Dot & Squeeze
A big hello to Flori from Squiggle, Dot and Squeeze our Guest ‘crafty’ blogger – as you probably know SD&S often inspire and get involved in craft activities at our Move Revolution events and write fabulous blogs for us all to enjoy
For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Flori, she is a wonderful combination of funny, creative, imaginative, with a huge dollop of being unbelievably caring (and a little bit crazy to mix it altogether!) We hope you enjoy all the things recommended by Flori and don’t forget to have a look at her wonderful craft boxes!
Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower. And what better way to celebrate than with our little ones kicking leaves and collecting conkers there is magic in the innocence of children outdoors in the Autumn.
Squiggle Dot and squeeze love this magic time so on the subject of magic how about creating woodland wands. There are the perfect walk accessory for whooshing in the forest fairs, magicians up secret animal burrows or just plain old chasing the crows with.
All you need is :
All you need to do:
The autumn mobile:
If your little one isn’t up to wand waving just yet but you love the Autumn why not bring a little outdoors indoors and create an autumn mobile. Set out on a walk and gather all manner ofleaves, berries, pods and grasses. And pick one funky shaped branch to be the hanging twig.
All you need is some wonderful nature finds
The thankfulness tree:
To help cultivate thankfulness in our home, we create a “Thankful Tree” in October /November bringing into focus how much of the year has passed and how much we have to be grateful for . It’s not complicated or even that crafty. And it honestly doesn’t take that much time.
It’s our way of encouraging one another to slow down and say thanks for the gazillion things we have to be thankful for. Have you ever tried doing one? We like to keep it simple because that way it gets done and isn’t a job. You can get as creative as you want, but here’s how we do it:
I hope one of these Autumn ideas inspire you to use the simple nature that autumn gives us in abundance and with such wonderful colour. I find autumn a real time of new beginning and re focus here at Squiggle dot and Squeeze HQ we have used our energy to bring two new craft kits to our range. “I Spy” and “Movie Magic” are our new family range there are 7 activities and enough materials for 4 kids or a family of big and little kids to come together and through the creative process of making make a MAGIC MOMENT , either a super exciting spy mission or a movie night to remember.

Looking For Help To Buy In Horsham Surrey?
Introducing The Mill, Highwood – Luxury ‘Help to Buy’ 1 & 2 Bedroom Apartments
Fall in love with these stunning Berkeley Homes 1 & 2 bedroom apartments.
“Highwood, like every development created by Berkeley, has been designed to exceed the expectations of today’s sophisticated homebuyer in terms of location, build quality, interior specification and sustainability. This is an unrivalled collection of beautiful new homes, created exclusively for you” Berkeley Homes
The autumn sun is shining on our first visit to Highwood. Dappled light from the tree lined wide roads and reflections from the water, surrounding the beautiful development, play the part in our breathtaking first impression… and we can honestly say it is truly breathtaking.
Every care and attention has been taken with the design of The Mill, Highwood – which is exactly what you would expect from Berkeley Homes. The roads are exceptionally wide, making it a dream as you drive in and park. The landscaping is second to none, and when you see the fish swimming in the waterways, designed throughout the development, we know you will hold your breath!
This is in invitation, extended to you, to take a moment to view a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment at The Mill, Highwood…or both! If you are a first time buyer you will not only fall in love with the location, and the design of the development, but you will also fall in love with the exceptional financial ‘set up’. With a combination of Help to Buy*, no stamp duty and an opportunity to discuss stunning ‘furniture packages’ (the name really doesn’t do justice to this offer, which means you will step into a fully furnished apartment, looking as if it is just off the pages of Elle Decoration or House & Gardens) it really is a win win.
Feeling tempted… here are a few more facts to make it even more desirable!
We would love to introduce you to the apartments – and give you a flavour of what is waiting for you as soon as you give us a call and book an appointment.
The first thing you will notice as you enter the building is the gorgeous, light and airy hallway, which looks just like a boutique hotel. Unlock the door… we are showing you the 1 bedroom apartment first, this apartment is unfurnished, but we know you will be able to imagine the space with friends and family who are visiting you for dinner, for a coffee, or just to say hello!

Say hello to Damian Bligh, Sales Manager at Move Revolution.
Damian has been part of the Move Revolution team for the past four years at our head office (covering Reigate to Oxted, Warlingham to Horley) – if you have moved in this area you will definitely have spoken to, or met Damian! We write these blogs so that you can get to know more about our team; who they are, how they work and what they love. When starting to right this blog it is so easy to say Damian is ‘unbelievable lovely’, ‘a really kind and thoughtful person’ combined with being ‘incredibly diligent and an expert in this area’. However, this really doesn’t cut through how much Damian really cares about his work – and also what a great laugh he is as part of the head office team.
Don’t just take it from us… these are a few phrases written by our clients in their independent reviews about Damian, so you can get a clearer, unbiased picture!
“Damian is tenacious, incredibly knowledgeable and reliable. He went that extra mile. His advice was sound, well researched and delivered the results”
“Damian is truly exceptional at what he does”
“Damian is incredibly helpful”
“Damian is extremely pro-active and helpful”
“Damian is professional, personable, knowledgeable, honest, has integrity, non-pushy, yes I am describing an estate agent…. Damian’s a rare breed”
“Damian is polite, professional and prompt.”
“Damian is friendly, empathetic and understanding”
Have you fallen in love with Damian? (If we could insert an emoji into the blog it would be the one with the wink!) We should point out Damian is very happily married, for those of you who love these qualities in a man (!!)…. However, if you are thinking of moving, then just give our head office a call on 01737 888220.
Joking aside (as this blog was being written, the above paragraph was read out loud in the office, Damian laughed, saying that his wife would find this very funny!) Damian is a true professional and a joy to work with; alongside the whole Head office team, headed up by Louise Simpson, they are truly brilliant at what they do. If you are thinking of moving in the Reigate, Redhill, Caterham, Warlingham, Oxted, Horley area you would be sincerely missing out if you didn’t give the team a call – with their expert knowledge, the right price and all the qualities listed above you will be moving into your next home very quickly! (Call 01737 888220 and book a valuation today!)
Part of getting to know our team is learning a bit about what they love getting up to when they are not at work, as well as finding out what they love at work!
How did you end up living in Oxted and working at Move Revolution?
We decided to move to Oxted, due to a number of factors. We were living in West London and both worked up in town, so it was important to live in a location that provided good links to London Bridge and Victoria. We had friends that lived in Westerham and came across Oxted from visiting them and liked that it had a Waitrose, numerous restaurants and boutique shops. In the 5 years we have been in Oxted, there have been a number of changes, like the Everyman cinema changing from one screen to three, plus creating a new much needed bar for the town centre. A couple of nice new restaurants and pubs opening are always welcome. And the Beer festival is getting bigger and better every year!
I had been working in the City as an equity derivatives broker, and was looking for a change in direction (without a commute!) I had previously been involved in outbound sales and recruitment which have similar transferable skills, with a passion for property this led me to estate agency, and in particular Move Revolution, with it’s clear focus on expertise, integrity and professionalism.
What are the three most favourite houses you have ever sold?
Tandridge Priory – This has to be top of the list! Tandridge Priory is a beautiful historic building set in 24 acres of land and in my hometown of Oxted. The potential for this property is very exciting and I can see the new owners creating a stunning home.
Clavadel – This is an Arts & Crafts property (‘think’ parquet flooring, bay windows with intricate design, inspired by the ideas of architect Augustus Pugin, write John Ruskin and designer William Morris) Clavadel is a stunning family home.
Hartswood Manor – Wing of an Elizabethan Manor House in Reigate with wood panelling throughout and one of the oldest staircases in the county – I love the traditional features and uniqueness of this home.
What do you love doing (when you’ve not at work)?
I love being with Bumble! (Those of you who know me will know I have a one-year-old gorgeous little girl called Bea, hence the name nickname Bumble) Bumble, as you can imagine, takes up most of my time outside of work – we love going out to the park as a family – I especially love seeing Bumble laugh when she is being pushed on the swing!
My other ‘love’ couldn’t be more different than being the Dad of a one-year-old girl. I really enjoy mixing house and techno, I’m a secret DJ who loves music and, I know you will laugh, this helps me feel younger and cooler than I am!! (Especially when I have only had a few hours sleep with a little one in the house!) If you love this type of music make sure you chat to me about this when we meet up!
How do you relax?
The addition of the Everyman cinema in Oxted has been fantastic. My wife, Claire, and I, love going to the cinema. It is a short stroll from our home in Oxted, which makes it really easy for a night out. Our favourite restaurant has to be the Thai Pad… add this to a brilliant film at Everyman, and that is the perfect way to relax at the end of a busy week.
What is your favourite day out?
I’ve realised that both my perfect days out involve alcohol! My perfect day out would either be Oxted Beer Festival – which has grown and grown over the past few years, a fantastic local event, everyone has such a great time, brilliant beer (obviously), great food and music. My real favourite though, would be to head up to West London where we used to live for a long boozy lunch at the great restaurants and bars around Portobello Road! (We can hop on the train in Oxted and be up in town 30 minutes later!)
What is your favourite walk?
Given its Autumn time, it would have to be Sheffield Park and Gardens – an amazing National Trust garden. At this time of year the trees look amazing – I can highly recommend a visit with family and friends.
What are your favourite apps?(Damian is known as being gadget and app crazy, we couldn’t resist asking him for his recommendations!)
What advice would you give anyone thinking of selling their home?
Now is a great time to sell, as there are a lot of buyers out there looking for properties, but not enough stock to facilitate their needs. Using the correct strategy in a more challenging market such as this, is key, and we have successfully advised our clients what approach would work best in order to find them the right buyer and best price. I think this recent review sums up exactly how we work (big thank you to our client Bethan for this amazing review)
“We got 4 different companies to come give a valuation and Damian provided the most detailed comparison work, plus the most informed advice on the current local sales situation. Communication was excellent. Our house sold in a matter of days, and we laughed, as the ‘for sale’ board wasn’t even up. Compared to the agents we have used when viewing properties to buy, Move Revolution is in a different league, it’s slick. I’ve been verbally recommending them to anyone who will listen” Bethan F, Reigate
